September 2025 Newsletter

We recently attended the funeral of an elderly pastor who had been instrumental in the direction both of our lives have taken. By the turnout at the funeral, and the tributes, it appears he had been a father to many, encouraging them forward on their journey of life and faith. We can honestly say that as teenagers our lives took a pivotal turn under his influence and leadership. He imparted some things to us that he had once been imparted to him…gifting, belief, faith, and love. He was not a perfect man, but to the measure he could carry, he was faithful with what he had been given. It was such a privilege to honour him and how he had influenced us.
It’s interesting looking back upon our lives, because as teenagers, we were certainly not perfect either! We had high expectations of the adults in our lives…heaven forbid they have failings. It’s so easy when we are young and inexperienced to expect that others will not let us down. It’s easy to not have applied the same standards to ourselves. As young people we were not always great receivers of direction nor correction, which we all need. We can get stuck in the disappointments that happen, so stuck that we cannot see, nor honour the treasure that has been given to us in the gift of relationship and impartation. Sometimes our stubbornness and arrogance block our ability to be taught or to grow. We may have had fathers in our life but may not have known how to be true sons and daughters. Hopefully as we grow up and become more acquainted with our own imperfections and limitations, we develop grace for others and the ability to receive instruction and guidance from imperfect elders.
On Father’s Day we honour those who have fathered us, and we reflect upon our ability to truly be sons and daughters that receive all the good things that come our way from the elders in our lives.
*Disclaimer – Sadly some people have encountered deeply traumatic experiences due to abusive fathers in their life. We recognise this and honour you as survivors of abuse. This blog is not referring to this kind of parenting.
Much love,
Meg and Pete

Salt Care has an amazing group of Participant and Support workers! I wanted to share a wonderful story of reaching a goal and having a lot of fun doing it.
Days like this remind me exactly why I love being a Salt Care NDIS Support Worker ❤️
Twelve months ago, I walked into Clayton’s house for what I thought would be just another shift. On the TV, the City2Surf was playing. Clay looked at me and said, “I’d like to do that one day.”
In that moment, something clicked. I told him, “Clayton, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.” And just like that, we had a goal. Not just a dream — a mission.
From that day forward, every Tuesday became training day. Week after week, rain or shine, we hit the pavement together and built up our distance, running 5km and pushing a little harder each time. On Saturdays, Clayton and Tobi joined us at Parkruns, turning training into teamwork and fun. Step by step, kilometre by kilometre, Claytons confidence and determination grew stronger.
Fast forward to today (10/08/2025) —Up at 4am to travel on the train to Sydney for the big day! Together, we lined up for the City2Surf — 14km of energy, community, and determination. Every kilometre felt like a victory. Clayton had his brother Tobi by his side, fellow Salt support worker Paul keeping pace, and me right there cheering him on.
Crossing that finish line wasn’t just about running 14km. It was about proving that with support, encouragement, and persistence, dreams really can become achievements.🎉
Clayton — thank you for letting me share this journey with you. Your courage, your grit, and your heart inspire everyone around you. 🏃♂️✨
And of course, a huge shout-out to Salt for backing Clayton & Tobi every step of the way. This is what true person-centred support looks like ❤️🙌
So proud that it doesn’t even begin to cover it. Today was proof that with belief and support, anything is possible.
Now the big question is…what’s next for Clayton and Tobi ? 🏆😉

Hi there 👋🏼 from the team at Salt&Co.
As we reach Spring we’re seeing the first signs of green peek through the ground. And we’re excited to come cut your grass, prune those hedges, and spray those weeds keeping your yard looking fresh and clean.
As a social enterprise, the mowing crew have been continually improving and sharpening their skills as they put their hand to the plow.
If you need assistance with your lawn, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Salt & Co.

We continue to stand by our mission of supporting the homeless community, thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Their time, compassion, and energy are what keep our service running strong.
This month, we were especially grateful to receive generous support from Community Bank Nowra, who donated a large supply of warm socks for our guests. With an increasing number of people arriving without basic essentials like socks and underwear, this donation will make a meaningful difference to those relying on our service.
Thank you to all who continue to support Safe Shelter – together, we are making a real impact.

Salt Turns 11 – Join Us for a Birthday Celebration!
This Father’s Day is extra special—because it also marks Salt’s 11th birthday! We’d love you to join us for a time of celebration, connection, and of course, birthday cake.
📅 Sunday 7 September, 10am
📍 Bomaderry Community Hall
Our Sunday gathering is the heartbeat of our community—a time where we come together to share coffee and food, worship and pray, and listen to a message that challenges and inspires us for the week ahead. It’s a place where we do family together—where we get to walk alongside each other through both the good and the messy parts of life, all held by the amazing grace of Jesus.
On this special Sunday, we’ll not only celebrate Father’s Day but also reflect on the incredible journey of the past 11 years—how Salt has grown, the lives that have been touched, and the community that has been built.
We can’t wait to see you there for this milestone moment on Sunday!
