Salt Care

Salt Care is a local, registered, not-for-profit, volunteer based Charity that provides benevolent relief to the homeless, the poor, the socially disadvantaged, those who suffer from mental health issues, the disabled, indigenous, elderly, and young people at risk.

Salt Care

Salt Care have a variety of services that work together seamlessly to provide a holistic ‘wrap around’ approach to addressing the needs in our community.

Salt Assisted Housing

Salt Assisted Housing provides a safe haven for people who are transitioning from crisis accommodation to independent living. We offer a tiered support system to guests for a short, medium, or long term period of time, dependent on individual needs. Each individual or family is pastorally supported and cared for and connected to the broader Salt Community.

NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a program in which people living with a significant or permanent disability can get support to live a better life. Salt Care have an amazing group of Support Workers that can work with participants on the NDIS to achieve their goals.

Mobile Response Vehicle

The Mobile Response Vehicle provides groceries, toiletries, bedding, swags, winter woollies and other necessities to people suffering from, and at risk of homelessness. The MRV is on call to attend to anyone in need as identified by rangers, community services and concerned community members.

Work Development Orders

Work Development Orders or WDOs are an opportunity for people to volunteer to pay off their fines by volunteering for Salt each week. This is a government initiative to assist those who are unable to pay fines to make a meaningful contribution to their community in the place of payment. Salt utilises people on in the WDO program in Saltbox and our Salt Store.

Disaster Relief

Salt Disaster Relief has been established in response to the bushfires, floods and COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted our community in 2020. Salt has had the opportunity to be on the front foot as first responders in these crises with practical support targeted to those who need it most.

COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted our community since 2020. Salt Care has had the opportunity to be on the front foot as first responders in these crises with practical support targeted to those who need it most, delivering food hampers and meals to COVID positive families and working closely with NSW Health.

Bush Fires

Salt Care has been working to support our bushfire affected communities throughout the emergency and the recovery. 

Salt Store

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30am-1pm

Where: The Salt Base

Salt Store is open twice a week, for people who are socially disadvantaged or struggling, to give them the opportunity to collect free groceries. Each family is able to access The Salt Store once a week to help stretch the budget.

The Store receives donations from Foodbank, Second Bite, Baker’s Delight, Milkwood, South Coast Milk, Berry IGA, Flavours, and many churches, community groups, and generous individuals in the Shoalhaven. We have an amazing team of volunteers who keep the Store running each week with their friendly and generous approach to the community.

    Women's Coffee and Connect
