September 2024 Newsletter
Being a father is a high calling. It is not a role that comes simply by producing children. Additionally, I know plenty of fathers that don’t have biological children. It is a responsibility and a calling to be in the unique privileged position to lift others onto your shoulders, to propel them into all they are created to be. A true father commits his heart to nurture his children, to delight in discovering who they are, who they are becoming, and foster growth in them. He is a protector, allowing the tension of safety and risk to help his children know they have a safe base and yet they are free to explore and venture out into the world. He loves unconditionally! He knows his kids will make mistakes, may even hurt his heart at times, but he willingly lays down himself, his pride, his pain, to continue to love and keep his door open and his heart sweet towards them. Fathers are a necessary foundation in our society and without them stepping up into their roles we often find ourselves on shaky ground.
Fathers, we need you! We welcome you to step up with gentle strength, wisdom and courage, with determination and self-sacrifice. We invite you to heal from your own father wounds so that they are no longer passed onto the next generation. We thank you for consistently showing up, for doing the hard yards, for loving us! We honour you!!

It's our birthday!
Salt turned 12 on Sunday, September 1. 12 whole years of being a part of this beautiful community, supporting those who need it most!
We would not have made it this far without the dedication of our staff, sponsors and volunteers. We are forever grateful for your unwavering support. It has been an incredible journey that started off small and has now grown beyond our expectations. Who knows what the future holds?
We're looking forward to another 12 years of serving you, our amazing community!

Men’s Group Ministry at Salt Ministries
Location: The Base, Bomaderry 2540
Time: 7:00 PM every Tuesday night
Every Tuesday night, the Men’s Group Ministry at Salt Ministries gathers for a time of fellowship and connection. We start our evenings with a meal together, often enjoying pizza or a BBQ. It’s a relaxed, low-intensity meeting where men can chat, get to know each other, and discuss current issues.
Our motto, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another,” reflects our commitment to supporting and uplifting each other. This year, we’ve been engaging with several inspiring series:
“The Chosen”: A powerful series that brings the stories of the Gospels to life.
“Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge: Exploring the essence of a man’s soul and the adventure God has for us.
“Becoming a King”: Short videos that guide us on the journey to becoming the men we are meant to be.
We invite you to join us, enjoy the camaraderie, make new friends, and catch up with old ones. Come and be a part of our supportive community.

Salt Store was blessed with a visit from a big home-schooling group. We had over 50 Parents and their kids come and volunteer at the store. They did a brilliant job cooking a BBQ for our friends and neighbours, washing all the Salt vehicles, packing hampers, and sorting and organising donations. It was a wonderful day had by all and we are excited to have them back in September.
Take care,

Bright and early on Saturday the 24th of August a team from Sassafras Nuts went to compete in the Nerriga Hotel Camp oven cook off!
We made Lamb and Chestnut Stew with Herb Damper Scones! It was so delicious!
Meg and Judy did a great job with the damper scones! Annie and I enjoyed cooking over the fire while Pete and Alex kept the fire going and helped with the food prep. Courtney did an amazing job in Delilah with Rodney running between Delilah and the cooking team helping wherever he was needed!
We really enjoyed spending time together cooking as a team. We also had some great conversations with other teams and the community. There were so many delicious meals made!
All proceeds from the day went to the Black Dog institute. They raised over $23,000!!! What an amazing effort! Sarah and Phil did a wonderful job of organising such an awesome event!
We already can’t wait until next year! We hope to see you there!
