October 2024 Newsletter

Life can be pretty tricky at times. No one tells us when we birth precious little humans into our world that there will come a time when we will need to let them go. We are also not usually prepared to open our hands and release many things that are dear to our hearts during our lives. Understandably when something is important to us we keep a tight grip on it, whether it be people, possessions, security, values, mindsets, habits, ways of life or many, many other things.

There will however come circumstances, pressures, difficulties, and even seasons of growth that require open hands, a letting go, a release of those things. If you are anything like me, you won’t want to let go easily. You may even fight hard to keep a handle on it all. Wisdom gently whispers to us to let go and trust. Let go and pray. Let go and grieve. Let go and bless. Let go and prepare for the emotional growth, the changes, the development that will always follow a season of letting go. Surrender to the goodness and kindness of a God who knows the deepest cries of our hearts. A God who is present, faithful, and constant in his love towards us. One who never fails despite our own failings, who is ready to meet us face to face even when we have been busy turning our attention and affection everywhere else. Letting go of everything else always brings Him front and centre, and in Him everything finds it’s right place.

Peace to your heart,

Meg

Sassafras Flowers occupies a small patch of Sassafras Nuts, the Salt Wellness Farm, and is currently in the process of being extended, which is very exciting! We have over 80 established waratahs onsite and peonies, dahlias, tulips and daffodils as well as many annuals such as sweet pea, cosmos, sunflowers, scabiosa,
feverfew and zinnia. We sell bouquets at Hyper Hyper Coffee, Flour Water Salt, and Nowra Fresh through spring and summer, and have recently launched our wedding flower side of the business.

We have a fabulous new logo (as above) as well as a fabulous florist who is heading up the wedding and event side of the flowers. I’d love to introduce you to Heather Downes, a qualified and experienced florist who heads up a team that is available to quote and install beautiful blooms at your next special event. Many of the flowers are grown on the farm, and what’s not available is sourced from other flower farms. We have included some pics from the last wedding we did in Bowral. If you would like to book some flowers contact [email protected].

Sunday is the day we all gather to worship, learn and connect. It’s a beautiful combination of adults, kids, usually a couple of dogs (outside :)), coffee, food, great conversations and a sweet leaning into Jesus. We are currently bursting at the seams in the Bomaderry Community Hall and looking for creative strategies on more space which is a wonderful problem to have. If you would like to join us, coffee is hot from 9am and the service starts roughly at 10am. We would love to have you.

With spring comes green grass which Salt &Co Mowing have been out in force keeping it short and tidy. Please feel free to get in contact if you have any lawn care work requirements. The team would be happy to assist.

Cheers, Mitch

Storytime

Gathering together under the big tree on Tuesdays is one of Sal and mine's favorite times of the week. We have welcomed new families, new babies and said goodbye to others. Some Tuesdays are large and some are small.

You might ask why we run Storytime, so let me share with you. It was birthed from the idea of connection. What better way to connect with other mums and dads than meeting under a beautiful big tree to sing songs, tell stories, share a tasty morning tea and for your little ones to make new friends!

If this sounds like something you'd love to do connect with Bek at [email protected], alternatively pop down to the Big tree at 10am during term.

Kids Church

This term has been fun, some days we are bursting at the seams, other days we are smaller in number. We have been following the beautiful advent book written by Ann Voskamp called Unwrapping the Greatest Gift. The stories we have share continue to remind us of God's absolute love for us, his people.

Kids Church is always fun and watching the connections that children and families are developing is beautiful! Keep praying for our parents and children!

This term the team did Safe Space Training, this was very informative and helpful. Thanks to Baptist Churches NSW and ACT.
